About the Author
Mathew A. Frith is an Australian economist specialising in the history of economic thought and particularly nineteenth-century American protectionist thought. He is currently an economics lecturer at the University of New England (Australia). In 2024, Mathew received his PhD in economics from Federation University Australia. His research has been recognized by several esteemed academic societies.
He has been awarded the 2024 HETSA Award for Best PhD Dissertation from the History of Economic Thought Society of Australia (HETSA), and the 2025 Terenzio Maccabelli Prize for Best PhD Dissertation from the Italian Association for History of Economic Thought (AISPE). He also received the 2025 HES Best Conference Paper by Young Scholar Award from the History of Economics Society.
